Query by sprinklez: What are some excellent stores to purchase protected, sturdy baby auto seats and strollers?
I know Babies R’ Us and Target but they never have something worth looking at. In addition to baby car seats and strollers, it can also be stores that sell child play yards and etc.
No on-line web sites. I need to have genuine retailers I can truly go to

does the job but could use a slight alteration, April 30, 2012

This review is from: UPPAbaby Cabana Infant Car Seat Shade, Grey (Baby Product)

bought this a couple weeks ago and so far with taking my 2 month old daughter out for walks and errands, it’s very easy to pop open and place on the car seat. I have a chicco keyfit 30 and it fits very well over it. the shade that hides in a zippered pocket is very handy to pull out and snap in place on sunny days-although, i wish there were pull out shades for the side panels. walking with baby in the sun is ok but the light still bothers her coming through the side panel netting and the only way to block it out is still with a blanket. overall, it does do a nice job shading from the top and keeping bugs away (and it also keeps family/friends/strangers’ dirty hands away when the come over and want to see the baby, which is an added bonus).

Good car shade, May 2, 2011

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

    Easy to install
Easy to fold and put back in carry pouch
Easy to get to child with zippers
    Great for bugs
    Great to shield from sun
Attached sun shield easy stores in attached front pocket

The silver sun/rain shade is very loose.
Only 3 snaps to hold it down.
Works okay for rain in a light rain, but, in a heavy downpour water will just run around the sides of the shade and drip down onto the baby.
Now, since it installs over the canopy (under the handle) it is nice for extra protection for when you get stuck in an unexpected downpour.
I would not recommend using it for a rain shield.
I would buy another type of cover as a rain shield. But as a bug shield and sun proctector it’s perfect.

I do however like this product. Maybe if the silver cover zipped on like a coat zips up you could still take the silver sun shield off and stowe it but it would work better for rain (hint, hint, manufacturer).

  4. Expecting A Suprise in August! says:

Burlington Coat Factory, some have a Baby Depot, Walmart, KMart… This is a tough question! Are there any Baby Specialty Stores near by? Where I live we have Babies USA it has nothing but baby items. If you go to http://www.gracobaby.com look for things your interested in and there is a link to find near you, and you can possibly find some Baby Speciality Stores! Good luck!

I’ve always trusted Walmart when it came to my children’s supplies. I have a 2 and a half year old and I have purchased his car seats and strollers there. I wasn’t too crazy about the last stroller, but I went over to Babies r us / Toys r us and was able to buy him a really nice stroller for a little over a 100 dollars. The company that made it is Jeep. It is soo much better than the other strollers. It’s a three wheeler, but the easiest to push around and my son is comfortable. That is what counts to me. But everything else, I bought it at Walmart. You can’t really beat the prices, and its good!

well you have the internet, look up baby stores near you and check them out. you can look up the reviews online also so you can make the best decision. i got mine at sears. it is a graco travel system and we got it on sale really cheap compared to babies r us and other stores.

  8. Jean says:

Sorry, I bought everything online, partially for the convenience, and partially because I couldn’t find what I wanted in store. I will recommend the Britax car seats though, I have the Boulevard, it cost me about $ 300, but it will do my son till he’s six and is suitable from 5lb preemie upwards with true side impact protection, and is rear and forward facing for all children.

I bought the Graco Quattro Tour stroller, and it was great until my son was about 15 months then it was just too heavy. I bought the Phil and Ted’s Sport stroller recently, I need a double stroller (I’m 38 weeks pregnant again, with a 2 year old toddler still in the stroller!) and, even though it’s fiddly, I absolutely love it, and so does my son!

I never found Babies R Us very good, and never bought anything beyond bottles and my boppy pillow from Target. Give Sears a try, they seem to have a good range. Other than that, all I can recommend is to look around for smaller, local stores that might be able to offer a range of different items, or at least be able to order strollers or car seats from a catalog for you.

Walmart, Kmart, Shopko, Target, Sears. You can also do a search online or in your local phone book for local baby stores. Good luck to you!
