Tips For Doing A Great Job In Parenting

Raising a child is hard work, and no amount of advice or preparation can change that. Preparation and knowledge can have an effect, though, on the results that hard parenting work brings. A helpful tip at the right time can make the parenting process much easier. Continue reading to get a few tips that might solve some child-rearing problems.

Children enjoy feeling independent, so assigning them tasks to do as you tidy up can make them feel helpful and confident. Even very small children can take on one small part of a more complicated task, such as sorting silverware when you empty the dishwasher. For example, while folding your clean laundry, enlist your child’s help to sort socks. The tasks will help them feel as though they are being independent, while giving you a hand.

When you are trying to teach your young child to do a new thing, use a chart to document each time he accomplishes it. A good example is keeping a chart and adding a sticker to it every time the new task is done correctly. As soon as the child has done the task a set amount of times, he can earn a reward. This will let your child see progress as well as motivate him or her to be rewarded.

It doesn’t matter how much you love your children, eventually you will need a break. This helps you keep your individuality, while also being a great parent.

When potty training, have your toddler visit the bathroom frequently, once every hour or two. They haven’t quite learned yet how to communicate to you that they need to eliminate and may only do so after it’s too late. Think of this as a way of avoiding incidents. This conditions him to learn to use the bathroom before the need gets to be too urgent.

If you are bringing a second child into the world, you’ll often have to prioritize one child, especially while the second child is still a baby. Many times the one that is crying will need your attention the most. Try not to let yourself feel too guilty, keeping in mind that at one time all your time and attention went to your other child, when they were an infant.

Despite the fact that parenting is a common thread through many lives, the parenting process does not come naturally to most folks. Seeking out information and asking questions of others is definitely an integral part of being a parent. Parenting is oftentimes a difficult task, but it can be made easier when parents share their experiences with each other. Helpful parenting tips can come from anywhere, and they are most welcome when they arrive.

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

After reading strong reviews of the The First years True Fit, I took a chance on the 2nd version, the Recline, one of my best online purchases ever. My 16-month son, who was sittling in a rear-facing Graco baby carrier, has been itching (more like crying) to get into a forward facing seat. After much prodding from my wife, I researched all the typical web sites ([...], consumer reports, IIHS) and was intrigued with the much cheaper True Fit as compared to the Britax Marathon. Best purchase I’ve made on Amazon and about $100+ cheaper than a Britax.

First, the seat is BIG. I installed it in my Mazda 3 (small car, but live and park in Chicago) and it fit no problem. I did do what everyone said about the original True Fit, READ THE DIRECTIONS front to ocver. At first, I was thinking that this seat is way too complicated, but after about 20 minutes of finally knowing all parts, I got it installed. After pulling the anchors and the front latch, this seat is not moving anywhere. I put my son in it and I think he was amazed at seeing things going forward at first….but then fell asleep like a light. The existing padding (without the supplemental padding) and the size of the seat made me realize how much safer I felt with my child in a big seat. I would recommend that if your kid is greater than 25lbs, I would pull off the extra padding and buy a seat saver (indentation) to prevent seat damage. Hope this review helps.

Not as great as I thought it would be in a small car., October 3, 2010

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I ordered this because I have a Honda Fit which is very small and I have a 11 month old that I want to keep rear facing as long as possible. I tried a friend’s True Fit in my car and it worked fine without the headrest rear-facing in the center seat position, so I ordered one. Well, once I got it and read the instructions, I realized you can only use the seat without the headrest up to something like 22lbs and then you have to put it back on in order to remain rearfacing up to 35 lbs. Without the headreast it isn’t rated for a child any larger than the infant carrier I was using. Basically that made it useless to me. Also, with the seat properly installed rear-facing, I couldn’t access the snaps to re-attach the front of the cover, and I also couldn’t access the strap adjustment lever very well either. I would have been very inconvenient because I like to loosen the straps when I pull my baby out of the seat and re-adjust them every time.

The seat did have a lot of good features though. I would highly recommend it if you have the space in your vehicle. I loved the fabric, the no-rethread harness adjustment feature, and the overall feeling of quality.

So, as I said, if you have the space in your vehicle, this seat is great…but don’t count on the removable headrest if you need the space and you have a toddler. I ended up with the newest generation Britax (Marathon 70) and I love it for my tiny car.

Great Car Seat!, June 24, 2010
    By
Elizabeth Brown (Columbia, SC United States) –

After much debating I chose this car seat as an additional car seat so my son can ride in my husband’s vehicle. I was hoping it would fit in my car rear facing which it did. I was very impressed by the features prior to purchasing and am as impressed with them once we received the seat. It is relatively easy to install, has newer and better features than previous models. I like the level at the bottom which tells you how reclined your seat is. I like the no re-threading feature. I love how comfortable the seat is! I must say it is much more cushioned than the other seat we have, the Britax Marathon. It is also roomier and wider. I like that this seat goes to 50inches as opposed to 49 with the Britax Marathon. I also like the option of using it without the headrest for infants and the included insert for infants. I like the price, lower than the Britax seats. I get 7 years of use out of this one, 6 years with Britax. So far no complaints, we chose the Urban Life and it’s a little darker than I thought but not too dark. Overall I would highly recommend this seat.

Anyone else see the irony in promoting a child safety seat in one of the most unsafe, unreliable vehicles on the road?

I am planning to use this in the airplane for my toddler and trying to find out the sticker which says it can be used in plane. But couldn’t find it. I neet to find it incase I need to cofirm someone in plane that it is FAA approved. Could you please post a picture with the sticker or tell me where do I need to look at? Thanks

  8. LearningCurveBrands says:

    - yes, the True Fit Convertible can be used on an airplane (per the instruction manual). Thanks for your question!

  9. superbeccysan says:

Can I use this carseat on an airplane??

  10. superbeccysan says:

Can I use this carseat on an airplane??

  11. MrsRCharlton says:

yes you can. According to the manual, the headrest must be used if the child is more than 22lbs or if the child’s head gets within 1 inch of the top of the plastic. With the headrest on, it can be used RF until 35lbs, or until the child’s head is within 1 inch of the top of the plastic on the headrest.

  12. anjomi1986 says:

You should only use one, two, or three pool noodles. You cut them in about foot long sections and you can tower them together and tape them around. Then place them under the front of the seat. Or you can use a tightly rolled towel, also taped in place. Do NOT use wood under the seat. They have not been crash tested this way and it is extremely unsafe.
    ~Miranda, CPST

  13. LadyMage16 says:

It should be fine to install it that way. Generally you’re asked to use pool noodles or rolled up towels, but a piece of wood won’t compress and should work the same.

  14. Tamara Derouen says:

Any after market products used to adjust car seats or enhance them are not recommended.

  15. 1Monkeybaby4me says:

I have this car seat for my 6 month old. I’ve installed it, rear facing, in the middle seat of my 99 saturn sl. I needed to install 2×4′s under the front of the seat to make the red line level. It feels INCREDIBLY secure; so much more so than without the wood. Does anybody know if this will pose a problem in an accident? The wood isn’t going to fly anywhere, I am sure of that, but can anybody think of any reason why this would be unsafe?
