Question by curious: Best and most sensible high chair?
What is the ideal high chair in your opinion? I specifically wonder about the cover. Vinyl or fabric or just wooden chair. Also, when your child began employing the chair: before getting in a position to seat on his own or right after?

Answer by Sarah Y
There are high chairs that recline, so you can start off making use of them prior to your baby is able to sit on their own. Which one performs ideal for you depends… do you have spare chairs? Would you like to be capable to move it around effortlessly? There are high chairs that are independent… we started out with that type and it was in a position to recline and we used it for my 1st daughter ahead of she could sit up. It had wheels so I could quite considerably place it exactly where ever I wanted (dining room, kitchen, and so forth). However, the drawback is that it was fairly big. There are also higher chairs that you can strap on to chairs. These come with a range of choices – some recline, some have trays, some fold up and can be simply used when out, some are quite simply just boosters.

My recommendation would be to get a single of the ones that you can strap on to a chair, particularly if you have spare chairs at the table at mealtimes. I’d get one that reclines, that has a tray, and that can be utilized a booster seat later on. These are particularly beneficial because later on when your kid no longer needs it, they are tiny sufficient to easily location in storage and you can very easily strap it on to a chair when guests with babies come to go to.

I would get something like this: http://www.target.com/Fisher-Cost-Space-Saver-Chair/dp/B002Q4T392/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&key phrases=higher%20chair&fromGsearch=correct&sr=1-1&qid=1283133470&rh=&searchRank=target104545&id=Fisher%20Price%20Space%20Saver%20Chair&node=1038576|1287991011&searchSize=30&searchPage=1&searchNodeID=1038576|1287991011&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_main_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=

And I would also recommend a vinyl cover to be in a position to easily wipe it down, although we had cloth and I could throw it in the washer, but it was a discomfort to get it off and on the chair. Excellent luck!

bumbo booster seat, May 8, 2013

FYI: We received this booster seat as part of a promotion, but we’re not paid to review it.

    Here are the pros:

    * It is soft and comfy and cute.

    * It’s a good height for my daughter who is 3 and she fits between the chair and the table easily when in the booster seat. But, she’s tiny for her age so this may be different for your child.

    * It’s easy to clean.

    * It’s easy to buckle in your child.

    * It’s also lightweight and easy to carry.

    * Bumbo is a non-profit company: All proceeds generated are donated to Maranatha Bana, which cares for the well-being of under privileged children in South Africa. That’s really nice, don’t you think?

    Here are the cons:

    * The straps that secure the booster seat to the chair are adjustable but not easily adjustable. I found that to make the straps longer or shorter, I had to put the booster seat on the chair, judge how long to make them, then take it off the chair to adjust the straps. So , finding the right length for the straps becomes trial and error. It would be easier if you could just buckle it and then adjust it to fit your chair, because who has the patience to do this when you have little kids and you are lacking sleep and have little motor skills?

    * When the booster seat is attached, the back of the bumbo seat sticks a little bit under the back of the chair we have. This makes it a little uncomfortable for the person sitting in the seat. If the person leans back the chair back sticks into them. We have a cheap Ikea table and the chairs have three pieces for the back and space in between. If your chair has a solid back this won’t be a problem at all. So, this isn’t really that big of a problem – we stick a receiving blanket (yes, we found a use for a receiving blanket) in between the seat back and the booster seat and that helps a little.

All in all, we give it 4 stars because adjusting the straps can be troublesome. Otherwise it’s a really cute, comfy booster seat that my little girl actually likes to use.

Got these for my twin girls who are now 20 months old. I was using some pretty awesome high chairs but realized the girls loved to sit at the table. I wanted something they could use for a long time so that I didn’t have to upgrade anytime soon.

I didn’t know Bumbo even made boosters until I started shopping for them. I was really intersted since I loved the bumbo seats with trays. I used those all the time before my girls grew out of them.

I chose the brown color becauae it blends well with my espresso dinnette set without standing out too much.

These boosters are made from the same firm yet squishy foam as the bumbo seats. The whole thing is molded so no food harboring crevises and is nice and smooth. My girls can sit in this in just a diaper and be comfortable.

The height is perfect. My girls are average height for 20 month olds. They are lighter in weight. This allows them to sit comfortabley at the table. They are a little small to be able to sit back in them though so I make sure I sit them up and only push the chairs in so far so they aren’t hunched up. I have no doubt that my girls will use this booster for at least a few more years yet.

The safety straps are strong nylon with sturdy plastic clips and are adjustable. They fit my girls great with plenty of room for growth.

The seats strap onto both the chair seat and back. I adjusted the straps then clicked in. I did have to adjust a couple times before getting it right. But once I did the seat didn’t budge at all. Very secure, no wobbeling, and no slipping.

Easy to clean. Again this is molded foam with no crevises so it is easy to wipe down. comes clean very easily.

I love these boosters and would definitely recommend to a friend.

    UPDATE SEP 5 2013:
I still love these boosters. But I wish the straps were removeable to allow easier cleaning. The straps wipe down ok but if food gets smashed in the clasps it would be a whole lot easier to wash out if I could remove them instead of taking the whole booster to the sink.

Compared Bumbo vs. Keekaroo booster seat, September 25, 2013
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I bought both the Bumbo booster seat and the Keekaroo booster seat in brown for my 2.5 year old(who is in the 25th% for weight and height). I have small chairs (Herman Miller Eames chairs) and needed something to fit appropriately.

-the Bumbo color is a faded brown. Almost looks aged. This may not be true for the other colors. The keekaroo is a beautiful perfectly even rich brown.

-the Bumbo appears to be better for a larger child. My 4 year old sat in it very comfortably. The Keekaroo is a little more contoured. I dont know about a larger 4 year old fitting. I think the Bumbo would fit for years to come.

-the latch on the Keekaroo is easy for a mischievous 2 year old to undo(only require the press of a button). The Bumbo has a traditional latch, making it harder for little ones to undo.

-they both fit great on my chairs and the straps were both easy to attach. The Bumbo has plastic between the straps and the foam, making it a place where food could potentially get trapped.

I am returning the Bumbo because I dont like the faded color. But if the quality if the plastic was better, I may have kept it.

I have a space saver highchair that u can use from birth to toddler as a booster seat. As a newborn or infant it reclines back so u can feed them. Its conveinent because all u have to do is strap it to a chair and its not in the way. Lately I have been putting it in the middle of gthe table so I can work in the kitchen and still be able to see my 1month old. Also the covering comes off and is washable its vinyl I believe. My daughter has been using her seat since the second day coming home.
