Query by Anon: Infant is 4 months old and receiving also large for automobile seat?
My daughter is four months old and is obtaining also large for her car seat, she has quite extended legs that are now hanging off the edge of her auto seat, she cant sit up by herself yet, is there any other vehicle seat I can get for her?

Greatest answer:

Answer by Kristy J
We just purchased a britax roundabout for our 5 month daughter. She still fits in her infant car seat but won’t in a handful of months. The Britax roundabout is for children five-55 lbs, it can be rear or front facing based on the weight, height, and age of your kid. I would verify that one out.

    A Great, Safe Carseat, November 25, 2011

We have had this carseat for a year now and are about to purchase a second one for our son. We put our daughter in it when she was almost 1 yo. I chose this because at the time I was driving a Honda Civic and it fit wonderfully (Rear facing and forward facing. We started her rear facing with the carseat reclined. Once she was 1 year and 20 lbs we turned her around.) Now we have a minivan but I still prefer this one to the larger/bulkier Marathon and Boulevard. A good friend has the later and now that her sons are older she is switching to a booster anyway. Here are the high points for me:

    1) Easy to install! Some carseats take a rocket scientist to install but this one is fairly simply. We use the Latch option. One trick that helped me when I was installing it in our Civic was to snap side that is closest to the center of the car first, with the carseat turned in toward the center of the car. Then I turned the carseat to face forward and snapped in the other side. Then stuck my knee in the seat and used my body weight to press it down while tightening both sides. I’m tall and if I can get it into a Civic while being 6 months pregnant I think almost anyone can do this. It just takes a couple of minutes. Our minivan is much easier to get it into, because it has the latches exposed. My Honda had the latches hidden down between the seat with a small button to indicate where the latch bar was so it was kind of a guessing game, but that was really the car’s fault, not the carseat.

    2) Safety, safety, safety! (Which perhaps I should have mentioned first) I think it’s pretty much accepted that Britax puts out great, quality products which have superior safety ratings. Like another reviewer said, check out their site for the rigorous safety testing they do.

    3) Comfortable and good looking. Even if my car was parked in the sun, the fabric on this would not be that hot. The buckles do get hot, but the fabric is very nice and gentle on kids’ bare legs/arms. (The crotch guard will keep the buckle from touching them.) Also I love the color which is gray but has some shimmer. Washes well and is durable. We’ve had it over a year and it still looks brand new with no staining or fading.

My bottom line is that this is a great carseat! My sister and close friends all have the Boulevard and I just don’t see the point, unless you are planning on keeping your kid in it until they are 15 years old. :)

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

We have had the car seat for about 2 months now and I very happy with same. It is sturdy and very comfortable because of the cushioning (some of the other car seats we were looking at were very firm).

What we love most is the size of same. We have a smaller car (mazda 3) and it fits perfectly. Not too bulky and easy toget our son in and out. We are still able to have 2 other passengers in the back seat.

  3. Mom to Leah and Adam says:

Just buy a convertible seat-they can safely rear face up to 30-40 lbs depending on the model, they recline enough she should be fine strapped into the harness.

  4. kitty says:

Most def!! My son was ALMOST 6 months when he grew out of his car seat. If you want to go the cheaper route they have Cosco ones at Walmart that are around $ 40, or if you want to go a little further on a limb they have really nice ones at Target (my store of choice lol Babys R Us and Walmart have them too) Just make sure you check the weight and height limits on any new carseat you buy and make sure it can be forward or reverse facing. We bought a nice one at target that he can be in until he is 65lbs I believe…it’s in reverse facing position right now but it can be turned around and altered to be forward facing. Just make sure you read the info on them before hand, it can be very dangerous to put a reverse facing only carseat forward facing, and vice versa. Good luck!! I hope this helps (:

  5. Nichola says:

My son is like that.there really isn’t nothing much to do.until she is like 11 months then you can turn her sons knees are bent because he still has to sit facing the back way but its safe she will be fine.she is gonna be a tall one.

  6. asrai says:

Get a rear facing that stays in your car.
It is currently recommended children stay rear facing until age 2,

  7. daa says:

You need a convertible car seat, installed rear-facing. I had my daughter in a Britax Roundabout from birth.

  8. Bobbi says:

A convertible seat. The Eveflo Triumph 65 has a big seat, and we have used this bringing home baby from the hospital. The seat will RF to 40 pounds, and FF to 65 pounds (or 50 inches or so tall). The straps are VERY easy to adjust, they just slide up and down. Remember that the AAP now recommends to RF to age 2 or the recommendation on the seat. Don’t worry about ‘scrunched up legs’ while RF, kids are pretzels and this is SO much safer.
